What are we Doing?
Darren, Ben and Chris, along with nine other riders and four support staff, will be riding bicycles from Brisbane to Sydney commencing on Saturday 29 November and finishing on Tuesday 9 December 2003. Riders will cover 70-120km per day and pass through all major metropolitan and regional centres on the way. To see where and when we will be riding view the trip schedule
The East Coast Cycle Challenge (ECCC) is the brainchild of Ben McEvoy, Chris Morton and Darren Fittler. These three motivated young men sat down one afternoon and decided that they would organise an event that combined fitness, fun and philanthropy. The ECCC was the outcome.
Chris, Ben and Darren, when residents at Basser College at the University of New South Wales, were involved in the organising and running of a charity event to raise money for the Prince Of Wales Children's Hospital. The event involved pushing a pram down the east coast of Australia and was successful in raising over twenty thousand dollars. Now, they are at it again but this time they are riding bikes in the name of charity instead of pushing a pram.
Monies raised from The East Coast Cycle Challenge (ECCC) will benefit Blind Citizens Australia (BCA) and have been earmarked for spending on youth-oriented programs. Read more about Blind Citizens Australia
Participants in the event will, for the most part, range in age from 20 to 30 years. The team are committed to dedicating the time and effort required to complete the physical challenges that lie ahead and are motivated to achieve the set goals:
